Strain Transformation Adjacent to the West Qinling Orogen: Implications for the Growth of the Northeastern Tibetan Plateau

The West Qinling orogen has played an important role in accommodating the deformation northeastern Tibetan Plateau induced by India-Eurasia convergence. Here we construct a vertical land motion (VLM) model based on latest leveling observations adjacent to orogen. Combined with horizontal field, crustal pattern this area is investigated. Additionally, slip rate and coupling coefficients of fault, longest fault separating from Lanzhou (Longxi) block, are inverted constrained GPS VLM observations. Results show that slips slowly at 1–2 mm/yr strongly coupled moment magnitude deficit Mw 7.4. uplift rates 0–3 mm/yr; which combined 0–12.5 × 10 −9 /yr contraction rates, suggests strain transformation plays key controlling tectonic orogen, furthers our understanding contemporary geomorphic topographic features. We identify significant transition belt longitudes 105°–106°E, indicates deformation, expansion Plateau, mainly plateau, rather than accommodated materials escaping eastward along Mountains.
